Method
The browser decodes the selected image, redraws it to a canvas and encodes that canvas in the chosen output format. Transparent pixels are filled with your selected background when converting to JPEG.
Convert a transparent PNG logo to WebP for a smaller web asset, or use a white background when exporting the same logo as JPEG.
Use responsibly
Animated images are flattened to one frame. Browser support determines which input formats can be decoded. Colour profiles may not be preserved, so visually check important artwork.
